Clarity

Clarity terms of use

Last updated: 7 October 2026

These terms cover the Clarity app for iPhone and iPad, and the connection that lets Claude or ChatGPT read your Clarity library. By using Clarity you agree to them. You must be at least 13 to use Clarity.

Who we are

Clarity is made by Moon Shard Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17130964), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. Contact: clarity@moonshard.co.

Apple and purchases

You get Clarity through the App Store. Purchases and subscriptions are also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. Payments, renewals and refunds are handled by Apple. If these terms and Apple's differ on a purchase, Apple's apply.

Clarity Plus subscription

Clarity is free to use. Searching, copying, presenting, exporting and deleting never need Clarity Plus. Clarity Plus is an optional subscription that adds the online AI features: 1,000 AI summaries a month, connecting Claude or ChatGPT to your library, and checks for which saves connect.

Acceptable use

Use Clarity lawfully. Do not save content you have no right to keep, or content that is unlawful. Do not abuse the service: no flooding the API or the assistant connection (MCP) with requests, no probing for weaknesses, and no attempts to reach anyone else's data or to scrape other people's accounts. We may limit or stop access that does.

Your content

What you save stays yours. You give Moon Shard Ltd a licence to process it only as needed to provide Clarity to you, for example to write a summary or to let an assistant you connected read your cards. We do not use it for anything else. Our privacy policy explains what is sent and where.

Other people's content

Links, articles, posts and other sources you save belong to their owners. Saving something in Clarity does not give you any rights in it, and you are responsible for how you use it.

AI summaries

Summaries, verdicts and connections are produced by AI (Cloudflare Workers AI for summaries, and Jev from TypeSafe for connections) and can be wrong or incomplete. Check the original source before you rely on them. The same goes for anything a connected assistant says about your library. Claude and ChatGPT are run by Anthropic and OpenAI, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do with what they read.

Changes and ending the service

We may change, suspend or stop parts of Clarity, including AI features and the assistant connection. If we stop the service, we will give notice in the app or on this site where we reasonably can. You can stop using Clarity at any time, disconnect assistants in Settings, and delete the app. We may end your access if you break these terms. You can export your library from Settings at any time.

Our promise and its limits

We provide Clarity with reasonable care and skill. Beyond what the law requires, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that summaries are accurate. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Moon Shard Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or business, arising from your use of Clarity. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights you have in the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top. Using Clarity after a change means you accept the new terms.
